High Adventure

High Adventure allows scouts to put their skills to the test at Scout properties across the country. Troop 1 is a high adventure Troop and as such sends out groups almost every year to places as varied as Florida or New Mexico.

Types of High Adventure

There are many expeditions a scout can embark on, on 4 distinct scouting properties all around America. Florida is home to Sea Base, a sailing and Scuba Diving haven, where trusted scouts can even spend three days on a deserted Island! (With parental permission of course). Northern Tier entails  a many mile long canoeing trip and dog sled adventures. Summit Bechtel Reserve is a brand new scout facility in the mountains of West Virginia. Finally, Philmont is the premier scouting presentation in New Mexico home to horseback riding and hiking.

Recent Trips

In recent years Troop 1 has launched trips to Philmont, Sea Base, and Northern Tier. Scouts can start going on trips after they turn 14 until they are 18 years old. Several Troop 1 scouts before have received the high honor of the Triple Crown, which involves going on three of the four high adventure trips.
